Live Chat Policies and Rules

Because Live Chat is a service provided by our Forums we are very strict about the conduct and behaviour of our users. Please read the rules below and if you have any questions you are welcome to contact a Moderator or Administrator for explanation.

Note: All rule violations will be met with a possibility of 5 outcomes with severity in the folowing order:

A) Warning - You are asked not to do the action again. Most small infraction will result in a warning.

B) DeVoice - Voice is removed from your user and the channel is moderated. You will not be able to talk, only listen.

C) Kick - You will be removed from the channel.

D) Temporary Ban - You will be removed from the channel and not permitted to reenter for a certain period of time.

E) Permanent Ban - You will not longer be able to access the channel.

Advertising

Whether for personal gain or for private use, personal web sites, personal message boards, user created IRC channels and chat rooms which are not endorsed by ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, or PixieHollowForums.com are not to be advertised anywhere in the channels, as we are unable to maintain the level of their content, which may or may not be suitable for children.

This also includes sites like Myspace.com, Xanga.com, or any type of social sites that allow personal information or unappropriate material that does not fall under the G-rating rules of this site. Any site that is not officially approved by the ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, or PixieHollowForums.com Staff is not allowed to be advertised on ToonTownCentral.com or VMKForums.com.

In addition to this, we do not allow the song scripts in channels. These are the scripts that use action command to show:

  • silly_zanny_boing is listening to [Humpty Dumpty - The Wall]

This also includes manual posting of song related information.

Asking To Become An Operator

This is annoying. Operators are generally IRC users that have shown, over a long period of time, that they can be trusted to obey the rules. Constantly asking to be an operator can get you kicked or banned.

Bots

Only operator sanctioned bots are allowed on the channel. These bots will be registered by the operators, and in most cases run by the operators. No other bots are allowed in the channels for any reason and doing so could result in the user being banned.

Bugs (Glitches)

Bugs (glitches) are part of all games. Exploitation of these is not condoned by ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, and PixieHollowForums.com and therefore discussion of them is prohibited on all channels.

Capitalization

Please do not use excessive capitals. The use of Capital letters to talk in the channel is considered rude and is interpreted as yelling.

For example: "HI!! HOW ARE YOU TODAY? ARE YOU PLAYING TOONTOWN?"

This is considered rude by other users of the channel.

Whether you agree with this or not, please consider that other users may find this offensive or annoying.

Please use capitals only as punctuation or to emphasize a point.

Clones

You are allowed to have "cloned IPs" if you're on some form of Internet connection sharing and can prove that the person on the other handle is NOT yourself. Be aware, however, that you can only have a maximum of FOUR connections on that IP address.

Failing to prove that you're on Internet sharing will get you kicked and/or banned.

Color

Please do not use color. Some people are using programs other than the Java Chat or mIRC to chat. This means that the colors you are using are not seen the same way on their monitor.

Users may consider some colors to be too bright and uncomfortable for their eyes. Please refrain from using colour in the channels.

Flaming or Negativity

Any discussions that are hateful or mean in nature are not allowed on any channels. We do not tolerate attacks based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or political affiliation or any discussions indicating grieving other users on the forums or in game by purposefully causing them to go sad because of their laugh limit, gag limit, age, etc.. No personal threats or harassment. This includes linking to pictures representing an attack or that are violent in nature. You can debate opinions but not attack the people behind them.

By acting in a negative manner, you effect the whole channel. Keep the spirits up so we can all have a good time.

Flooding or Spamming

Please do not flood or spam the channel. Flooding or Spamming means:

To type a lot of information at once, causing the chat page to fill up and making chatting difficult for other users to read. Flooding or spamming is generally considered more than 5 lines in a row.

This includes repeating the same thing again and again:

User122: HI!

User122: HI!

User122: HI!

User122: HI!

User122: HI!

User122: HI!

Or typing random characters to flood or spam the room:

User122: fkjfkfu903qur

User122: 843891348jaskljdfl

User122: 3481248fjajl;ad

User122: 84840898

User122: 3842384

User122: jefosdjsdf

User122: l;ffjds

User122: jsklfsdklf

User122: lkklsda'

Constantly changing your nick can also be considered flooding or spamming.

Quitting and relogging back in to the channel is considered flooding or spamming.

Typing successive emoticons is considered flooding or spamming.

Please be aware that large Ascii art is also considered flooding or spamming, please ask an operator before posting Ascii art to the channel.

Highly Controversial Topics

These conversations tend to lead to violent outbursts based on strong personal beliefs. Discussions which contain political commentary, religious or other highly controversial topics will not be allowed.

These topics may (but are not limited to) contain beliefs/opinions on religion, political subject matter (i.e., new governmental laws, candidates, etc.), abortion, sexual orientation and/or highly controversial current events.

Impersonation of Others

Changing your nickname to someone with similar names of existing users in order to cause chaos or misconceptions towards that user is not allowed and it can lead to permanent suspension from Live Chat.

Anyone impersonating or acting like they are an administrator, moderator or operator is not allowed and can result in disciplinary action. If a user is in violation of the rules or is acting in an inappropriate manner please report it to an Operator and let the administration, moderating and operator staff handle the situation.

Inappropriate Language

Our Forums and Live Chat caters to many children and adults, therefore all channels are G-Rated channels. This is strictly enforced with no exceptions.

G-Rated means: You should not use any words or phrases that would be inappropriate in a Children's Disney Cartoon from 15 years ago.

See http://www.filmratings.com/questions.htm for a more exact definition of G-Rating.

Discussions which contains subjects such as: foul language/cussing, nudity and sex, violence, drug or alcohol use (or any other illegal substance), etc., and/or that may be offensive to parents of younger children, will be dealt with immediately. This includes foul language, inappropriate links to pictures or external website links, discussions about friends/family members/pets dying, discussions about mental illness or disease that may be inappropriate for children. If you are uncertain as to whether a certain subject, word, image, or link is allowed, contact a moderator or administrator before discussing it on the channel.

Violation of this rule will result in being kicked and banned from all channels.

Language Requirement

These channels are English speaking only channels. Please speak in english so that everyone will understand and share in the fun.

Personal Information

Live Chat has children present therefore asking for or volunteering personal information is not allowed. Personal Info consists of Real Life Names, Age, Gender, Location, Email Address exchanges, Instant messenger ID's, Password/Account Information, School Information and other similar details. This also applies to linking of personal pictures of the users, their schools, homes (that include their exact locations), etc.

This also includes sites like Myspace.com, Xanga.com, or any type of social sites that allow personal information or unappropriate material that does not fall under the G-rating rules of this site. Any site that is not officially approved by the ToonTownCentral.com, VMKForums.com, ClubPenguinFansite.com, or PixieHollowForums.com Staff is not allowed to be advertised on any Live Chat Channels.

Respect for Operators

Respect the decisions of the Operators in the channel to kick or ban a user. Operatorss are trusted to make decisions so that all users can be safe and enjoy themselves. Sometimes decisions have to be made quickly so that young persons are not exposed to inappropriate language or ideas.

If you feel that this decision was inappropriate, please feel free to ask the Operator responsible in a private message why they made this decision. Attempts to revoice or unban yourself will result in permanent banishment.

Sharing Accounts

Do not ask for, request, or share accounts. Live Chat/IRC has authentication for users who are regular attendees. These users can register and have automatic actions taken for them on connection. Please do not share these accounts as the owner of the account will be held responsible for all actions of the account.

Trading Requests

We are not a trading depot and this activity is prohibited on all channels.
